The SHOCKING Truth behind Aravalli Hills!
Aravalli Hills
2/2/202614 min read

Namaskar, friends! Approximately 2 billion years ago, a wall of mountains stood between Rajasthan and the continental plates. Starting from Gujarat to the Rajasthani hills of Delhi, this 700 km long wall is one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. For thousands of years, these mountains have done a very important job. To prevent the Thar desert from spreading further. If not for these mountains, many areas of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh would have been buried in sand.
The level of groundwater would have been much lower. The water crisis would have been worse. And don't even ask about air pollution. Without these hills, the sand and dust particles from the desert make air pollution worse. This is the Aravalli mountain range, friends. And today, the same danger is hovering over the country. The Modi government has come up with a new definition of Aravalli. According to which, 90% of the hills won't be officially Aravalli. The hills won't be considered as hills.
And because of this, the forests on them It will be easier to construct and mine. When this news reached people, people in Rajasthan and Haryana protested on the streets. People started raising their voices on social media. The government was pressured. And in return, the government issued a new notification to mislead and confuse people. The government said that there would be no mining in Aravallis from now on. But this whole notification was a joke. Along with this, many influencers and content creators were given money in the last few days to defend
the government on this issue. Many people have used the same script in their videos. They claim that the government is trying to destroy Aravalis. Our story begins in May 2024 when the Supreme Court, to save the Aravali Range from mining. Listen carefully. To save it from mining, the Modi government orders to make a uniform definition of Aravali. The Supreme Court believed that it would be easier to protect the mountains of Aravali if they had a uniform definition. This is because the Aravali Range passes through four states. Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi. And in all these states, different definitions have been used.
The government was given the task of making a better definition. But the definition made by the Union Environment and Foreign Ministry, instead of saving the mountains, will make the mountains disappear. According to the new definition, only those mountains will be called as aravali, whose height will be more than 100 meters. Apart from this, the aravali range will only be considered when within 500 meters, more than 2 Aravalli mountains within 500 meters. If they stay more than this, then they will not be considered a part of Aravalli range.
This looks like a small change, but look at the scam that is being done here. You will feel that the height is 100 meters. 100 meters is a standard height, what's wrong with that? But the point to be noted is that where is the height of the mountain being measured from? 0 meters, that is, the baseline is being measured from. In the whole world, the height of the mountains is measured from sea level. when we say that the height of Mount Everest is 8,800 meters, we compare it to the sea level.
But for Aravali, the government says that its height will not be measured from the sea level, but it will be calculated from the areas around it. The scam here is that the height of most of the areas around Aravali is already 100 meters above sea level. So even if a mountain of Aravali is 190 meters above sea level, according to this new definition, it may not be considered as a part of Aravali. It may not be classified as a mountain. This is the reason why more than 90% of the mountains in Aravalli do not meet the
criteria of this new definition. And that is why they will not be called Aravalli. According to the Forest Survey of India, out of the 12,081 mountains in Aravalli, only 1,048 are 100 meters high. That is only 8.7% mountains. The rest, more than 90% of the mountains are not officially mountains. The amazing thing is that when the government gave this definition to the Supreme Court on 20 November 2025, the Supreme Court accepted this new definition. accepted it and asked the Environment Ministry to prepare a plan for sustainable
mining. But the good news is that people didn't become fools. From Rajasthan to Delhi, something started happening that didn't happen in the last few years. Thousands of people took to the streets to save Aravalli. In Gurgaon, people protested in front of the houses of the Haryana ministers. In Udaipur, lawyers marched from the court to the electorate. While marching in Jaipur, thousands of people gathered at Ambedkar Circle. There were protests in Jodhpur as well. protest in Jodhpur as well.
All the protesters said the same thing together. No Aravalli, no life. Don't destroy Aravalli, let us breathe. On social media as well, the hashtag Save Aravalli has been trending for many days. Thousands of people made reels. Thousands of people started posting pictures of Aravalli on their profiles. They started posting statuses on WhatsApp. Because everyone understands this, friends. If Arawal is destroyed, how will it affect us? To understand this impact, it is important to know how the desert spreads.
You must have seen that sand dunes shift from one place to another in the desert. In areas like the desert, strong winds blow the sand along with it. And gradually, it forms a layer of sand on the land. If it is not stopped, this land also becomes barren. And the desert starts spreading. This process is called desertification. Climate scientists have warned many times that if Aravalli is destroyed, then in a few decades, Delhi's climate will become a semi-desert climate. And this is not an imaginary thing because to some extent,
this is already happening. I'll show you the proof in the next video. But before that, let's know who would want to destroy Aravalli like this. What benefit do they get? And the straight answer to this is money, money and money. Money is money. Real estate companies need money. money for mining companies and money for the political parties that take donations from them. The hills of Aravalli pass through the Delhi NCR Real Estate Corridor like Gurgaon and Faridabad. And here, the price of land and houses is unbelievably high.
The government of Haryana has repeatedly tried to remove some parts of Aravalli from the protection. And who is benefiting from this? Companies like Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Group. Actually, the uncultivated forests in Aravalli village used to be owned by the Gram Panchayat. And they couldn't be bought or sold. But still, the Patanjali group bought more than 400 acres of land in the Kot village of Faridabad. Now, you'll ask, if this land can't be bought or sold, then how did Patanjali buy this land?
Through shell companies and smugglers, they took over more than 300 power of attorney agreements, which didn't require ownership transfer. This is the investigation of the Reporters Collective in 2023. Through these shell companies, Aravalli is buying land at a low price and selling it at a high profit. Many of these companies' earnings were zero or very low. But they gave crores of rupees in advance for the land. In most of the companies, Baba Ramdev's partner Acharya Balkrishnan had the majority stake.
Apart from this, look at this. In April 2022, the Supreme Court had also given an order to return these lands to the Panchayat. But the Haryana government has not yet implemented this order. The second way to destroy Aravallis was found by the companies, Farmhouse Economy. On protected land, luxury farmhouses, wedding venues, and resorts were built. Which were booked for weddings and parties for lakhs of rupees. In December 2023, in a drone survey, only in 4 villages of Faridabad, 6,793 illegal structures were found.
They surrounded an area of more than 700 acres of Aravalli. The Kant Enclave case is the biggest example of this. This company made more than 1,600 plots in 425 acres of land. This was Aravalli's forest area. But despite this, the Haryana government gave the company permission to build a residential complex here. And you won't believe who all bought plots here. Former Chief Justice of India, former MP, well-known cricketers, a retired officer of the World Bank, army officials, politicians and bureaucrats,
all bought plots here. This is an old story. In September 2018, the Supreme Court ordered the demolition of all 30 houses built here. and said that the Town and Country Department was involved with the company. This was the situation when the entire area was under protection. Now think about it, even if this protection is removed, what will happen here? The third big danger here is mining. The mining of construction materials like silica sand, marble, stones is done which goes to the construction market of the entire Delhi NCR.
Look at these videos. These illegal mining people make the entire mountains disappear. Now think about it, if the height of a mountain is a little more than 100 metres, And by cutting the mountains like this, he brought them down to a height of 100 metres. So now, he won't be called a mountain. In Arawli, on a large scale, there are gold, tungsten, lead, rose-coloured quartz, zinc, copper and minerals like rock phosphate. Mining is also done for these minerals. And this mining is done in both legal and illegal ways.
The Supreme Court has banned mining in the protected areas of Arawli many times. But despite this, mining has been done here. For example, look at this. In 2004, the Supreme Court banned mining in the notified areas of Arawli. But illegal mining was still going on. In 2009, this ban was extended to Faridabad, Gurgaon and Mewat's 448 sq. km area. But till then, Aravali was damaged. Between 2011 and 2017, only in Rajasthan, in the Aravalli Hills area, 4,072 cases of illegal mining were registered.
And around 100 lakh tonnes of minerals were illegally mined. In a report by CAG, it was revealed that the Rajasthan government had given this mining lease. It did not follow the directions of the Supreme Court. And even the Union Environment and Foreign Ministry had given its permission. The Mining Mafia has a very strong lobby here. And they have very close relations with the bureaucrats and politicians. They do illegal mining with the support of politicians. Like in July 2022, in Haryana's New, DSP Surendra Singh,
after getting the news of illegal mining, raided there. But the Mining Mafia is so fearless that they crushed a truck killed Surendra Singh. You might be thinking that this is a very speculative thing. That in the future, Aravalli will be destroyed. Aravalli will be destroyed in the future. But it's not like that, friends. All this is already happening. It's been happening for many years. In 1968, the Survey of India only recorded 2,200 mountains of Aravalli in Rajasthan. Today, 25% of these mountains have completely disappeared.
In just one district, Alwar, 31 mountains were destroyed in the last 50 years. Similarly, look at this report. Due to mining, most of the Aravali districts in Haryana have been destroyed. And where these mountains were destroyed, what happened there? 12 bridges were opened. From where the sand of Thar Desert came. This is the report of 2009 as well. From which it was revealed that through these 12 gaps in Aravali, Thar Desert is expanding towards the plains. The areas that used to be green, are now on the verge of turning into deserts.
From South Haryana to Rajasthan, in the entire Aravali region, the production of crops has decreased. 8.2% of the total area of Haryana has started to change into the desert. And this land is no longer as fertile as it used to be. Apart from this, I told you that Aravalli is also connected to the air quality of Delhi NCR. The forests of Aravalli work like green lungs for Delhi NCR. They increase oxygen, absorb pollutants and stop dust. The destruction of Aravalli has made the air pollution situation in Delhi NCR worse.
The 12 gaps that I told you about, the sand from the desert enters Delhi NCR through them. Many years ago, many decades ago, it didn't do that. Apart from this, due to legal and illegal mining at different places, dust and air pollutants are coming out. Which once again are acting like pollution in Delhi NCR. But it's not just about clean air, but also about water. Because for water, Aravalli is a very important source. These mountains have natural cracks. The rainwater from these cracks goes into the ground and recharges the groundwater.
According to an estimate, one hectare of Aravalli land But when the mountains break, concrete is laid, the water cannot find a way to go inside. And because of this... the groundwater level also starts to fall. In Aravalli belt, the groundwater level has already gone down by 1000-2000 feet. Many lakes near Delhi, like Badkha Lake, have completely dried up. The same is the case with Damdama Lake in Haryana, which is considered to be one of the biggest natural lakes in Haryana. Its size has now become one-third due to dry deforestation.
It is called the last surviving natural lake of the Delhi NCR region. But if the situation continues like this, then one day, The destruction of Aravali has affected weather patterns and rains as well. In 1973, where monsoons used to last for 101 days, in 2009, they lasted only for 25 days. In the same way, the rainy days have decreased from 60 to 80 days a year to only 18 to 30 days a year. This is because the jungles of Aravali used to create humidity in the atmosphere. They used to control the speed of the wind due to which it used to rain.
Now you can understand by yourself how bad the situation is already. Now there are so many protests, what is the government saying? On 24th December 2025, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change issued a press release. It said that the ministry has issued directions to the state governments to ban any new mining leases in Aravalli. If you look at it from the top, you'll see that people's efforts were successful. The government listened to the people and now mining is banned in Aravalli.
Even on social media, some people are sharing this news that people have won and now Aravalli is safe. But the truth is that people are being mislead here. Look at this report of The Wire. Neither is this ban new nor are these directions new. The government is only following the orders of the Supreme Court through this press release. In the government's press release, it is written that ICFRE has been asked to make a management plan for sustainable mining. And until this plan is not made, mining leases will not be provided.
Look at the order of 20th November in which the Supreme Court accepted the 100 metre definition. In the same order, it is written that a management plan for sustainable mining should be made. And in this, those areas should be identified where mining can be done and where mining should be completely stopped. And until this plan is made, no new mining leases will be given. So the government is presenting this again as if Aravalli is safe now. Now there is no need to protest. Everything is fine. If the government really wanted to listen to the people,
then why didn't they change this 100-metre definition? The Aravalli Virasat Jan Abhiyan, who is fighting to save Aravalli, also said that in this press release, it has not been said anywhere that the government is going to bring a better definition by changing the 100-metre definition. I think the government is just waiting for the people to cool down after the next 1-2 years, then a new plan will be brought for mining and then new mining leases will be given. To confuse people, Union Environment Minister Bhupinder Yadav is even saying that by the new definition,
90% of Rawalis will be protected. Because if there are two mountains within 100m and 500m, then the area between them will also be protected. And there will be no mining here. There is a gap of 500 meters between one mountain and the other mountain, so that land will also be considered as aravali range. After this definition, more than 90% of the areas are protected areas. 90% of the mountains are out of Aravalli. 90% of Aravalli is protected. Influencers and creators are being paid to defend Aravalli.
Many of my friends showed me evidence of this. Remove the old video in which Aravalli was talking in his favour. Instead, make a new video on how Aravalli developed from mining. Many creators have shared such emails publicly. Look at this. This is an email from the PR agency. I'll show you the email. Here it is. They want me to delete the Aravalli Hills video and make a new video in which I support that Aravalli Hills are being cut. Because yesterday I also got an offer that you have to make a video
in favour of the Supreme Court. You tell us your budget. In the script that was provided to them, it was said that go and tell people that the government's decisions that are being taken here are actually to save Aravali. And on many screens, you can see the faces who followed this script and put the same video. One of them says that the government has brought the definition of 100 meters only to define it. But the hills below 100 meters are also equally protected. But how they are, it is not told.
that the Aravalli hills are more than 100 meters high. It doesn't mean that the rest of the hills will be removed and opened for mining. But the truth is that 100m is a technical benchmark, and it's not meant to exclude Aravalli, but to clearly identify him. Whether it's the Supreme Court or the government, their intentions were already clear. It's a simple thing. If the government was really interested in protecting the Aravalis, then why did it make this 100-metre definition? The amazing thing is that some anchors of Godi Media are now creating an environment
for the destruction of the Aravalis. Like, listen to India TV's Rajat Sharma. Delhi's shape is like a bowl which is surrounded by the Aravali mountains from three sides. That's why the polluted air gets trapped in Delhi. They are blaming Aravalli for the air pollution in Delhi. They are saying that Aravalli is surrounded by Delhi on all three sides. That's why the air pollution is getting trapped here. That is, the mountains that are doing the job of stopping the pollution, they are being told that the pollution is happening because of them.
The amazing thing is that Rajat Sharma used to blame the government for the air pollution in Delhi until there was a common man party government in Delhi. The people of Delhi are also human. First, it was the government's fault. Now, it's the mountains' fault. Despite legal protection, Aravali has already faced so much destruction. What will happen after this new definition? That's why it's important to protest to save Aravali. The good news here is that because of all these protests,
on 29th December, the Supreme Court has imposed a temporary stay on its own decision. Now the court will make a new high-powered expert committee, which will have domain experts. And these experts will look at the entire report of the government committee in depth. And until these experts give their detailed assessment report, the 100-metre mark will remain. That is, it will now depend on this new committee whether this 100-metre definition will be accepted in the future or not. That is why it is very important, friends,
that there is pressure on the government and this committee so that the 100-metre definition can be permanently rejected. But the unfortunate thing is, friends, that this government is not only after Arawali. It is in different areas of the country, behind different forests. In Mumbai, 45,000 mangroves are being cut down just to make a coastal road. 45,000 mangrove trees. You know what mangroves do in school, right? Mangroves save us from floods. Their root systems absorb wave energy. Stabilize the soil.
Improve the quality of water. Still, just to make a road, so many trees will be cut down. And when floods come tomorrow, does anyone remember the actual reason? Similarly, at the behest of Adani Group in Gujarat, the forest land was given to him, where trees were to be planted. This land was included in the Green Credit Program, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2023. This entire government, friends, is by the corporates, for the corporates, of the corporates. Whatever decisions this government takes,
everything is taken after looking at Adani Ambani. The root cause behind all this is the same Chanda Dhanda model, and gives them business in return. Earlier, this work was done through electoral bonds. But since the Supreme Court has terminated electoral bonds, this work has been done through trusts for the past one year. Have you seen this article? 4,276 crores of contributions were given to different political parties through electoral trusts.
And 83.6% of this money went only to one political party. BJP. Other parties also get money from the corporates but the money given to BJP is negligible in comparison to other parties. That's why if we want to save the country, the forests of the country, the country, save the environment of the country, it is very important to raise our voice here
